Chew Harder

The Origin
The "Fail Harder" art piece is made of more than 100.000 pushpins and can be found at Wieden + Kennedy Portland, OR.
It’s one of their many core values keeping them ahead of everyone else. And as I was searching for something that would push my gum-related projects, it served as the perfect template.
It took 6524 gums (9,1 kg), 98,5 hours (~33h chewing; ~66h forming and sticking) and a 100x120cm canvas.
To see the whole process see my instagram story-highlight “The Gum Diary”.

“The background is made of pushpins. The easy way would be to do the lettering as pushpins and leave the wall blank. They chose the hard way. It's a perfectly executed concept."

"OF COURSE NOT!"
– Me when my girlfriend asked me if I let her chew one gum for it. (EDIT: now ex-girlfriend)
